The Student-Athletes General Assembly (SAGA) of Junior High School and Grade School units had their recognition ceremonies last March 26, 2019 and March 27, 2019, respectively. These events were made to recognize the collective efforts and unwavering passion of Ateneo de Davao University’s basic education student-athletes.
The Junior High School’ SAGA was held at the Junior High School Amphitheater. The event was graced by the presence of Junior High School’s Principal, Fr. Michael Pineda, S.J., Sports Officer Celina Simone Jaldon, and some of the student-athletes’ parents. This year’s guest speaker was the Grade 11 learner-athlete, Palarong Pambansa 2019 Qualifier for Secondary Volleyball Boys, Lourdz Magno reminding our young student-athletes to embrace the given spotlight for they’ve earned that opportunity for all the hardwork they’ve incurred in maintaining magis in academics and sports simultaneously. The Grade School’ SAGA was held at the Grade School Activity Area. This year’s SAGA was a different set-up. The Grade School Administrators, Mrs. Geraldine Nina Rocel A. Libron, Headmaster, and Mrs. Glynes Jean V. Ibañez, Assistant Headmaster for Student Affairs, assisted the Grade School Coaches, with the supervision of Sports Officer Airnel Abarra, in emulating the recognition ceremonies held for academic awardees. The administrators wanted to provide the best moment for our young student-athletes tor exemplifying Start Bright Magis for the whole school year 2018-2019. This big leap for the Athletics Office – Grade School was warmly applauded by the happy and proud parents of our young student-athletes.

A number of notable basic education student-athletes from various events are currently preparing for the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2019 and the Ateneo de Davao University is very proud of them for sharing the Ateneo Way to our beloved Region XI Davao Eagles in and out of the playing arena.
