The Banwag Asul, or “Blue Light” in Bisaya, is an annual event of the Men’s Football team. The event seeks to recognize all the effort throughout the year, recognizing outstanding student athletes in the Football Program. It also is a tribute to the graduating seniors and the time of the year to thank the coaches for all that they have done.
The Banwag Asul was attended by the varsity members of the Ateneo de Davao Men’s Football Team last March 22, 2019 in the Grand Men Seng Hotel. The Banwag Asul started out last year spearheaded by the seniors of the Ateneo Men’s Football Team batch of 2018. Our gentlemen athletes were accompanied by their wonderful and beautiful dates. It has been a tradition to bring a date in the Banwag Asul embodying the idea that a team is a family and cultivating personal relationships is a priority for the Ateneo Men’s Football Team. The presence of these guests only reaffirms the importance of this event and the level of personal commitment everyone gives. In the AMFT, we believe that there is a better way to be athletes and a better way to use and experience sports. In line with Jesuit and Ateneo teachings, our formation of student athletes include serving others and going beyond what is expected. The AMFT aims to continue to operate just like an organization. No student athlete is given any scholarship or any financial or academic incentive.
