The Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) Office of the Athletics is organizing the 1st Ateneo Coaches’ Forum on January 31, Friday, at the school’s grade school Conference Room B in Matina campus.
University Athletics Director Noli Ayo said the one-day activity is in line with his office’s mission of contributing to the holistic growth of coaches in Davao and Mindanao. “The activity aims to provide our local coaches with additional knowledge in the importance of sports psychology and positive values in achieving better results in an outside the playing field,” Ayo said.
Ateneo de Davao has invited Mark Fleming, a seasoned coach and sports psychologist based in the United States as main speaker during the event. Also invited to speak before participants is coach Richard W. Berry, founder and director or Karis Sports in Lucena City.
Program coordinator Benedict John Enerio have sent out invitations to Ateneo school heads, including those from the grade school, secondary and college levels. Similar invitations were also sent to the Department of Education (DEPED) and Davao Association of Catholic Schools (DACS).
The event is expecting around 75 to 100 participants, which starts from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s open to everybody, which is why We’ re also inviting coaches from other schools to join the forum. We’re also trying to communicate with Cor Jesu College of Digos City, also other schools in Panabo and Tagum Cities.
The conference will feature four topics to be discussed: the Value of Sports Psychology, Values Based Coaching, Coaching with a Purpose and Lessons Learned from Coaching.
Registration fee for the event is P200 inclusive of forum certificate, beverages and packed lunch.
