After almost 2 years of establishing and rejuvenating the university athletics program, Mr. William “Butch” Ramirez turned over the helm to incoming University Athletics Director, Mr. Emmanuel Rene “Noli” Ayo, in a formal ceremony held last November 5 at the Matina campus.
Present in the activity were the coaches, trainers and sports officers from all levels of the school community. Fr. Joel Tabora, S.J. was out of town during the event and was represented by Mr. Jeremy Eliab. Also in attendance were Ms. Theresa Eliab, Director of Student Affairs, and Fr. Manny Perez, S.J., the grade school chaplain.
Mr. Ramirez, in his turn over speech, emphasized the need for the ADDU coaches to strengthen their leadership in their teams and be good role models and ambassadors of the school. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Ayo shared his strong belief in the need for character and competent coaches in instilling a healthy and balanced university sports culture where student-athletes will thrive in.
Prior to joining ADDU, Mr. Ayo, has been the Athletics Director of Ateneo de Naga from 2006-2009 and was very much involve in the creation of various sports and community projects for the youth of both ADNU and NagaCity. He was also ADNU’s basketball program director and head coach from 2009-2012. He also became part of the coaching staff of the men’s team B and women’s varsity team of the Ateneo de Manila University.
