A year of hard work, intensive training, exhibition games, and the desire to be the best in Davao has gone a long way, as the Ateneo de Davao Blue Knights once again reigned supreme in the Davao Association of Catholic Schools (DACS) Sportsfest 2013 last September 3-7, 2013 held in the different venue of the DACS member schools.
The team blue knights collected most of the champion awards in the team and individual sports event in the basic education (grade school and high school) category. In the grade school: basketball boys, football boys and volleyball girls won the championship, while the newly formed volleyball boys finished third place, a good start for the new team. In the high school category, basketball boys and girls, volleyball boys and girls, football boys and girls topped all the championship events.
In the individual events on the grade school category: swimming boys and girls won the top spot, as well as badminton, chess boys and girls and table tennis boys all emerged as champions. In the high school category, AdDU won the lawn tennis event for boys and girls, chess boys, swimming boys and table tennis boys, and the girls badminton event.
In the culminating activity and awarding ceremony of the DACS sportsfest 2013, held at the DACS office last october 11, 2013, President Fr. Joel E. Tabora, S.J., the current president of DACS and AdDU, was accompanied by Mr. Billy Cruzada and Mr. Jimmy Dela Vega led the awarding of the sports awards (the champions trophy) to the winning teams and recognition trophy to the DACS member schools’ administrators and officials.
While the Ateneo de Davao Blueknights team, headed by Fr. Joel Tabora, who also gave out the awards took center stage to receive the athletes’ certificates and champion trophies for Ateneo de Davao. But he was surprised to have received as much as 21 champion trophies for the team that made him very happy for the amazing feat of the group. He very much proud for the achievements that the athletes got as well as the great job for the administrators and staff of the athletics. The officers and athletes dedicated the awards and thanked fr. Joel E. Tabora, S.J. for his utmost support and blessing that made Ateneo de Davao, Champions.
